Digital Technology in Water Monitoring
Limited digital adoption hampers effective water monitoring in agriculture
The limited use of digital technology in water monitoring in India can be attributed to institutional inertia and lack of funding for technological innovations. Many agencies lack the capacity to integrate advanced technologies due to insufficient training and infrastructure. Additionally, economic constraints and policy fragmentation hinder the implementation of cohesive digital solutions across various regions.
The Atal Bhujal Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission aim to improve water management and supply. However, they face challenges such as inadequate digital infrastructure and insufficient data integration, which impede their effectiveness in real-time monitoring and decision-making.
Implement a comprehensive digital monitoring system through [ INTV 3 ], incorporating AI-driven analytics and video-based audits to enhance transparency and efficiency. This intervention should be supported by [ INTV 1 ] to ensure expert guidance and [ INTV 2 ] for developing user-friendly interfaces. For systemic resilience, initiate a parallel support structure with [ INTV 7 ] focusing on skills development and alternative infrastructure to tackle slow propagation challenges.
Over the mid-term, the intervention should evolve by establishing robust nationwide networks, promoting [ INTV 5 ] for comprehensive government systems monitoring and reporting.
In the long-term, the intervention will expand through [ INTV 8 ], fostering a global tech ecosystem for water monitoring and creating a scalable framework adaptable to evolving environmental conditions.
This solution positions India as a global leader in digital water management within 5–10 years, setting standards for technological integration in resource monitoring.
Possible risks include IT infrastructure failures and resistance to new technologies. Strengthen [ INTV 1 ] with additional stakeholder engagement and [ INTV 8 ] for ongoing R&D to keep pace with technological advancements. Introduce [ INTV 6 ] to enhance public awareness and acceptance of digital monitoring systems.
