Inefficient Farming Techniques

Outdated agricultural practices and lack of modern technology

Ministries & Focus Areas

Causal Factors

Inefficient production techniques in India are primarily driven by outdated technologies and a lack of investment in R&D. These factors are compounded by a weak institutional framework that fails to incentivize innovation. Furthermore, inadequate training for the workforce and insufficient policy support for emerging technologies exacerbate these inefficiencies, leading to higher production costs.

Current Schemes / Missions

The Government of India has introduced schemes like Make in India and Atal Innovation Mission to address production inefficiencies. However, these initiatives face challenges such as inadequate funding, bureaucratic red tape, and a slow adoption rate of new technologies, which hinder their effective implementation.

Proposal

The strategic intervention involves leveraging [ INTV 1 ] to establish a Central Policy-Making Body for streamlining technology upgrades and [ INTV 7 ] to create systemic resilience by supporting R&D and alternative infrastructure. This will include [ INTV 2 ] for developing SOPs and design teams to modernize production processes. The resilience plan via [ INTV 7 ] will ensure flexibility and adaptability in technological integration across industries.

Over the mid-term, the [ INTV 1 ] intervention can evolve by expanding its reach to include regional innovation hubs, thus deepening institutional maturity and fostering localized expertise.

In the long-term, the intervention can scale to establish international collaborations and attract global investments, enhancing the ecosystem and driving further innovation across sectors.

This solution positions India as a global leader in sustainable production technologies within 5–10 years by fostering an innovation-driven economy.

Potential risks include insufficient inter-agency coordination and resistance to change from established industries. To mitigate these, the intervention can be strengthened by incorporating [ INTV 6 ] for increased awareness and engagement, and by enhancing the design of [ INTV 1 ] to ensure robust oversight and adaptability to emerging challenges.
